Housing for MS GIS Students   (Click here for Housing Preference Form)

The University owns and manages a 23 unit apartment complex, the “Central Apartments”, adjacent to and within a short walking distance to campus for the use of our GIS students and visiting faculty. The complex is composed of a mixture of single-story furnished duplexes and cottages clustered around a private driveway. There are 8 one bedroom and 14 two bedroom apartments, and one apartment is occupied by the University’s resident property manager.  Residents share the use of a private swimming pool that is restricted to the Central Apartment residents. Students will be expected to live in GIS Housing unless an exemption is granted.  No pets/animals of any kind are permitted in GIS Housing.

University policy is to have housing assignments made on a first come first served basis. The one bedroom apartments historically have been in high demand, so it is important to return your housing preference form as soon as possible. In general, one student is assigned to each bedroom in the complex, affording single students the opportunity to share a two bedroom apartment.  However, other arrangements are possible, particularly for students who wish to bring their families. The monthly rental fees, which are competitive with the local rental market, are set according to the particular apartment size and nature of occupancy. The following rates have been set through June 2006:
