EMDS Workshop at ESRI User Conference (2/6/2008)

The Ecosystem Management Decision Support (EMDS) system is an application framework for knowledge-based decision support of environmental analysis and planning at any geographic scale (http://www.institute.redlands.edu/emds/). EMDS integrates state-of-the-art GIS as well as knowledge-based reasoning and decision modeling technologies in the Microsoft Windows® environment to provide decision support for a substantial portion of the adaptive management process of ecosystem management.

The EMDS development team, now a private non-profit consortium, will be putting on a Preconference Seminar on Sunday, 3 August, at the 2008 ESRI User Conference in San Diego, CA (San Diego Convention Center, August 4-8,2008).Registration to the User Conference is required to attend the session (please visit http://www.esri.com/events/uc/ to register). EMDS 4.0 (1/15/2008)

The next release of EMDS is currently under development. Starting in March 2008, we will begin a beta testing phase and hope to release a full version by the beginning of April 2008. Highlights of EMDS 4.0 include:

  • Full ArcGIS 9.2 compatibility
  • Central project file for easy sharing of projects among users
  • Full .NET 2.0 and 3.5 compatibility
  • Ability to run EMDS as a standalone application (outside of ArcMap) with ArcGIS Engine
  • Performance enhancements
  • Ability to read and store information within personal and file geodatabases

If you need to use EMDS with ArcGIS 9.2 ASAP, you may try the EMDS 3.2 "Emergency Version".
